Occupation/Careers (details):

I have worked in many temporary dental assistant positions, and also made orthodontic appliances, worked as a law office manager, worked as a freelance paralegal, medical assistant, and lab tech. I worked in a nuclear lab in Dallas, TX, and it was from that job, that I believe I was exposed to excessive radiation which caused a rare malignancy twenty some years later.

Different places you have lived:

I lived in Pasadena, CA, Covina, CA, Dallas, TX, Cupertino, CA, Sunnyvale, CA and now Millbrae, CA.

Family SPHS grads:

My brother, Bruce Chapin, went to So. Pas. and graduated in 1971.

I still have family that lives in/near South Pasadena:

No one.

Post High School Education:

Went to Pasadena City College, took basics and an interesting Psychology class and a Japanese course. I don't think I was taking college too seriously at that time.

School Story:

Marcia nailed the story about the three of us becoming Tigerettes at a time when most people would be considered too old. I am pretty certain I was given the pity vote, because I was awful! Marcia and Debbie and I did have lots of school spirit, and we bought goodies for the basketball team before each game. We were able to skip English class a lot, so we could cheer on the team! I was also a varsity Baseball team statistician, and tended to ignore the errors for certain favored players! The coach always told the team they had to clean up their language, because there was a girl present. I am sure they resented that!

My favorite "school days" hang outs or other places:

I loved being in Concert Choir, and performing; it was a real bright spot!We went anywhere Marcia's Valiant would take us! Many times it was to Seal Beach, instead of class! I swear, Marcia said she never changed the oil on that car, but it seemed to run great! We were notorious for our TP jobs and would have plenty of narrow escapes! The Bretheren Church seemed to play a big role in the occupation of our time, and energy. There were many events to attend, and lots of guys to break our hearts!

Do you get back to South Pasadena?

No, not really.

SPHS graduates I keep in touch with:

Marcia Hanscom,

What I always wanted to do that I haven’t done yet:

Go to Czechoslovakia, where some of my ancestors are from.

My "Goals in Life" or "Hopes & Dreams":

Trying to stay healthy.

What musicians, songs or albums would be on your playlist today?

Coldplay, Muse, Foo Fighters,

Hobbies/Activities/Pastimes in High School:

Going to the beach, reading,

Hobbies/Activities/Pastimes TODAY:

Gardening is more of a necessity of survival, but there are aspects of it I enjoy. I make some jewelry, and some crafts.

What's happening in my life now:

As I alluded to earlier, I had a very nasty cancer, and a year of intense, freakishly strong chemo. It damaged my body, and left me with lots of health issues, that I battle. I have a weird metabolism and I stay large and swollen up. It makes me kind of self-conscious. I used to be very active, hiked, played soccer, but after the chemo, I couldn't do it as much, and now I feel like a blob! I guess it frightens me to go to a reunion not feeling I look my best, but I guess people won't be that shocked...I think! Oh well!

I am so very sad to hear of Diane's passing! What a lovely person, and beautiful spirit! She was always so kind and helpful! The world lost a truly radiant, and sweet light.
